Cleaning up a project... how?

Post by buurjongenshon » Fri Feb 24, 2012 6:37 pm

I have one folder/project that contains about 6 songs. These songs are now finished and wonder how I can archive/cleaning up this folder/project. It contains about 18gb of data, and I am sure that there are also a lot of stuff during the experimental period of the songs, that is not used anymore within the final songs it self.. any suggestion, because 18gb seems a lot of data. In my opinion I should open all files, unfreeze them and save them separately to a new project folder and then the collect and save option. After done this I could trow away the oldd 18gb project folder.. is this the way to do it, or is there a more convenient way

i pesonally never delete any files from a projec, you never know when you end up needing them for a remix/re edit of the song

File > Manage Files...

Will show you any unused files within a Project or Ableton Set.

I there see about 10.9 gb of unused files that are not used with the 6 songs within the project. but when i click "show", on these different files, it shows up in the browser on the left. but there i can not delete them?

Open each song and save it to a new location on your HD, then go to File-> Collect All And Save. This will copy only the files actually used in that project to the new folder location.

doing right now.. seems to only good choice. would be nice if there would be a "clean up" button for projects. anyway saving disk space at the moment, thanks all for suggestions. all thought the manage files, show unused, show have a delete option

Select the files in the browser, and press delete on your computer keyboard :)
