iPad
Re: iPad
Guess we'll find out soon... my concern is that removing the home button will make Multitasking Gestures "mandatory" and will disrupt the hundreds of apps that use four+ finger touches as key parts of the apps' functionality... Ah well, we'll see...beats me wrote:This picture has people speculating the iPad 3 won't have a home button.

I like the home button.

I'm so proud right now. Yesterday my near 70-year-old mom went out and replaced her iPhone 3 with an iPhone 4S without notice or my help. She also has a 2011 13" MBP, Apple TV, and iPad that she uses daily. I raised her well.

By the way, how will a retina iPad 3 not undermine the price tag of every monitor in existence?

The funny part is in keeping with my mom’s age she spends a lot of time on her iPad playing slot machine emulation apps and is just as stingy with virtual coins she inserts as if it were her real money.
There’s already rumors of retina displays coming soon to Macs.

Re: iPad
Apple’s slippin’ in the “it just works” department on a couple of features.
So far I’ve only been able to get the Message app on the iPad to work with one contact that is also using an idevice. There’s some weirdness involving setting up phone numbers and/or email addresses. Also from what I can tell there isn’t a way to turn the app off. Every time the one contact I got it to work with sends me a text I get it both on my iPhone and iPad. Most of the time I don’t want to get it on my iPad. I tried killing the app in the multitask bar but I still receive the texts.
Also my roommate recently got an iPod Touch and we went to test Facetime between it and my iPhone but it didn’t work.
In other news Apple could announce a keynote named “Nothing New” and the stock would still go up $10.

You mean $10 for every year Jobs has lived?beats me wrote:In other news Apple could announce a keynote named “Nothing New” and the stock would still go up $10.
By the way, I thought of this: If you hold the iPad in landscape mode.. the home button doesn't show on the photo. If this fact became public the stocks would drop faster than Skrillex could drop the bass

Don't understand why Apple still doesn't offer a live streaming feed via iTunes/AppleTV2 for these events.

the speculation geniuses who bring us such gems as “here’s a picture of a 3 millimeter screw that could be from the next iPad” went to the extent of doing some comparative measurements between the apps to determine the picture is in portrait view, but they admitted it could be upside down.

Maybe they will this time. I remember the Lion keynote being streamed but I think that was only through the web. I walked out to the parking lot at my work to take an hour long “break” to watch it on my iphone.
