Hey there. I've been using Live for a long time and like to think I've got it pretty much mastered. I'm pretty experienced with it and I use it everyday. I have my work-flow and I'm happy with all that. One ? though.
I recently upgraded my old 2008 white Macbook to a 15' MBP running Lion. I copied my "All Live" folder which contains all my samples (vengeance, various samples etc. So all the files are on my computer. But Basically every set I open says "media files missing." But when I look I find them in my browser. So they are there ut Ableton searches then says no new candidates found. wtf? They are there so why can't Live find them.
Now I have a shit load of "works in progress, and all the files are missing from them.
I'm tempted to just say screw it, delete all my old projects and start over, which would give me a lot of peace of mind, but I have some really good in there I'd like to keep. I guess I could go thru my Hundreds of sets and bounce stuff I like to audio but that would literally take weeks.
I'm thinking it's some sort of path issue. Like the path chaged since my Macbook has a different name.
Anyone had this happen or can shed some light.
Thank u much as always.

Sample files missing
Re: Sample files missing
Double click the "media files are missing" bar at the bottom (it should be orange). In the browser on the right in parenthesis it says (Drop custom folder here). Do that! and then hit the GO icon to the right of "automatic search". That SHOULD solve your problem provided all your samples are in the same location.
If that doesn't work you have to manually drop the audio files one by one onto it's correct name on the list in that same missing file browser. After you've done all that make sure you save the set! It should load no problem from then on.
Hope this helps and if someone has a better way I'd love to know.

Re: Sample files missing
Thanks so much man!
When I got my new Macbook I tried to use the migration assistant but it didn't work, at all!!!
Plus I was migrating from a 2008 w/ Leopard. I also have a Time Machine back up of the old machine. Thats where I tried to restore from.
But I just ended up manually moving all my files to my new Lion MBP. So maybe thats how some of my samples got un-linked. This really sucks but thank you so much for your quick response. i will try that method u described and let u know what happens.
