Loop without warping

Post by juddy » Mon Jul 14, 2008 4:01 am

Hi there,
Very simple question. Possibly a rtfm but I can't see the answer there.

I want to loop a clip without warping at all. How?

thanks,

juddy

Hi Juddy,

you need to turn "warp" on in order to use the loop button. To prevent any tempo changes, simply set the clip tempo to the global tempo of the Liveset and delete all warp markers (except for the first one). The quickest way to do this is to right-click into the clip´s waveform and select "Warp from here (straight)".
I would also recommend to choose any other warp mode than "Complex" (ie. "Beats") in order to ensure the best audio quality.

Best,

I thought 'Complex' gave the best audio quality ?

nope,
complex will always affect the sound very slightly, it is just more useful on 'complex' material - like a full song.

Beats mode will not alter your audio when the clip tempo and the main tempo are the same. It has to do with how the different stretches work.

Loop without warping

Thanks for your help.

I understand that using beats shouldnt change the sound but why not have a "no warp" function for when you wish to simply loop without any processing occuring on thte audio?

cheers juddy

Hello juddy,

This has only technical reasons.
Workarounds are:
-looping in Simpler/Sampler
-loop unwarped via follow actions
-loop unwarped in the arrangement

Best,
Christian
