Recording Scratching in Ableton w/ Serato

Post by cram2012 » Sun Mar 11, 2012 7:01 pm

I am using Serato, a TTM 57SL, Macbook Pro, and ableton live. I was wondering if anyone can help me figure out how to record scratching into ableton live arrangement view......
I understand I can use the Bridge to record a live mix session and it records the crossfader movements, however, I like to lay my tracks out in arrangement view and add/overlay cuts in separate tracks as needed. Sometimes this require multiple takes, and multiple samples. I can get the audio to record but it does not recognize the crossfader movement, and instead treats the fader as always on. I believe this is because of the audio routing.
Does anyone have ideas or been able to figure this out?
Thanks

....I was brainstorming and though maybe a secondary sound card would do it.....rout the TTM 57SL into the secondary sound card as an instrument of sorts. This is an expensive work around I realize....

...Also if you set your Channel to 1 on Audio tracks playing the mix and your scratch Channel to 2 and pan one side of your mixer to the right (for audio tracks) and the other to Left (your scratch record) you can record mono, but this also seems excessive.

:D …just found a thread on Serato that addreses this issue…haven't verified it yet though …..but it sounds like a viable solution to scratching records in Ableton Live. Basically, need to find the right Mac OS version to work with TTM 57SL, should be able to get Ableton to recognize 2 external Lines in the mixer instead of one……hopefully this works.

Here is the link to the Serato thread that discusses:
