Y'know, as much as you'd like me to take your word for it, I think I'm going to need proof for this statement.

this is the conclusion that i have come to regarding lives sound quality. yes it sounds different from logic (ive never tried cubase or protools) but sounding different is not neccessarily bad, its just got a different spice to it, its like comparing a jupiter and a prophet or a strat and a les paul. every musical generation has a technological medium that helps define its sound, and this basically comparable to the days of tape where one brand might have a different flux to it than another.

the only problem i have is time stretching my analog recorded loops, especially the lower register stuff.

This thread is retarded! Live sounds great and there is no other program like it.

In Logic the same audio file will sound louder when played back at unity gain. There is no question this is the case and psychoacoustically this can make you believe that logic sounds better.

I believe the main reason for this is Logic uses a different default pan law of -3db instead of -6db. When you run Live in rewire using Logic's master buss the same effect can be heard.

Ableton summing engine definitely can degrade the sound quality however its warped beats audio engine is still the best I have heard especially at extreme tempo variations. If you want to hear how Live's summing engine degrades the audio you can use an exaggerated example to hear it clearly.

Take an audio file and group it several times. Each time you add another layer to the summing engine you can hear the sound quality slightly degrade itself due to rounding errors from the summing engine using a higher bit rate (64 or 32 bit) and having to eventually convert it back down to the original 24 bit. I wish Live would fix this because there this is obviously no reason this should be the case.
