how to record knob adjustments during live play

Post by bengali548 » Tue Mar 20, 2012 5:15 pm

ive been playing around with the auto filter in ableton. however, when i assign knobs to my control surface (akai mpk mini) ableton wont record knob adjustments during live playing. how can i get ableton to record knob adjustments AS theyre being changed.

if i change knob adjustments during live play. it adjusts it for the WHOLE clip/sample/track. ie. i want the LFO at 1/16th for the first bar 1/32 for the second bar 1/8th for the 3rd bar and 1/4th for the fourth bar in ONE midi clip

Go for global record, automation will be recorded in arrangement view.

i usually just use session view but i see everyone (or atleast a very strong majority) on youtube using the arrangement view in ableton

so if i used arrangement view i can isolate certain pieces of one midi clip and adjust/ add certain affects to it?

anyone know a good tutorial for this or would simply screwing around suffice?
