So um, where is the essential instruments collection?

Post by pergesu » Mon Mar 19, 2012 7:49 pm

I installed it from CD and don't know where any of the instruments are. I thought it would show up in the library but I don't see anything new about essential instruments collection. I was hoping to use this for strings and horns. Where can I find those?

And is there a patch list somewhere where I can see everything included in it? I'm feeling pretty stupid at this point. I'd love to see a list of all the instruments I should have and where they should appear. At this point I don't know what it is that I paid for.

I don't have it (I bought the download version of Suite) but I'm pretty sure they will be under "Instrument Racks" in the Library folders. Live's methodology for presets / library content is usually to categorize things by type (e.g. Strings, Synth Bass) under the Instrument Rack folder. That's how all the "Suite 8 Content" is presented. It's a bit obnoxious because it means you don't actually know *which* instrument is housed within the rack; it could be sampler, tension, electric, operator, etc; though in EIC's case it would all be Sampler. Somewhat confusingly, each live suite instrument also has its own preset list within its respective folder, though these notably cross over with presets in the Instrument Rack folder, the difference being that the Racks have built in Effects and Macro controls. I don't know since I don't have it, but there may not be an actual folder for "EIC;" the instruments may just be installed to the various relevant Type folders within the Instrument Racks folder.

If the EIC content isn't under Racks as I think it is, then it would have to be under the Sampler instrument.

hope this helps, and hopefully somebody who actually owns it can chime in :P

For example, in your Instruments folder, you should have "Instrument Rack," in which you should have "Orchestral Strings," and several folders inside that with names such as "Strings Ensemble," "Viollin Solo," and so on.

The EIC instruments are inside the Instruments rack, expand the library window to the right so you can see the column "Live Pack" and start opening folders, in the "Live Pack" column will appear if the instrument belongs to the EIC2.

If you enable Help View, you can find direct links to EIC Instruments and Drum Kits under "Sounds".

Thanks for the help everyone! The tip about help view is especially good - it's great to be able to see all the sounds from one package in one place. Thanks again!
