Live 9.. Pipe dream.. or what?

Post by One Reason » Sat Mar 24, 2012 12:44 am

I can find very little on Live 9 anywhere..

what gives?

Are we stuck in 8.xx land forever while all the other daws keep releasing major updates?

When is 9 coming and what will be the big changes \ additions?

Cheers.

They're not going to release it until everybody on the forum has started their own thread about it.

:) yes , the delights of beta testing new software for 6 months, all jacked up over new features, when in reality I just need my program to work....
But I agree, it is about that time, so bring it!

I will never understand why people want this so bad when they don't even know what it will be.

It reminds me of that Yogi Berra line: "If you don't have it, that's why you need it."

Logic 9 was released in mid/late 2009, Cubase 6 was a year ago and Pro Tools seemed to jump from 9 to 10 so fast, it seemed unfair on those who upgraded to 9.

Except from PT allowing you to use it without a dedicated interface, none of the new versions of other software added much to what was already there. Ableton gave Suite owners an amp sim for free, the others would have called it a new version and asked for an upgrade fee.

Amp sims? They were \ are a joke.. in comparison to Amplitube, Guitar Rig, TH2 etc..

Not sure if those appeased anyone...

Im ready for what I ANTICIPATE the new features will be

For me, The definition of the "The Ultimate Musical Production Tool," is one that can most easily allow me to transpose the musical environment in my mind to the public. At this time my favorite tool is Ableton, it is The easiest medium for me to be able to do that. The future would be complete control over every feature of the audio production program, this may be achieved through shared and/or personal algorithmic manipulation. A system based on a simple yet customizable approach to a modular network, with a very detailed, sonically accurate framework. BitWig seems to be pushing the drive in that direction with obvious and requested Live features. In my limited understanding from observing the video and website; I see great potential in Bitwig; we'll have to see what impact it makes on the public and if it does, is it worth 1)switching/relearning the curve and 2)purchasing the software. Another concern many of you already posed, is the arrival of Ableton 9. I have learned so much from this program, I will admit that sometimes I feel "unheard" and "confined" however for me, BitWig would have to be profoundly groundbreaking to make a complete transition. Besides, I use Reason rewired in Ableton quite often, each has their own strengths. I would think this could be achieved With Ableton and BitWig as well; see which work flow or features you prefer. I have come to learn in my 20+ years of music production (10 w/Ableton)that the best outcomes are most importantly, the depth of understanding in how your tools behave and the desire to want it. We have all been affected by classic songs, that was our right of passage, many of them were created on systems far more outmoded than our average system in the hobbyists home today. This is an exciting time, the music production industry is proliferating. Currently, audio production software is easily accessible. I say "Good for you BitWig, make some waves," competition is vital to progression. Ultimately, we the consumer have the power. I was a huge fan of Acid, Protools, Reason 1, and outboard hardware before Ableton. As for now, I'm going to stay loyal to Ableton, unless convinced otherwise; we'll see.

It'll definitely be Live (which helps, 'cos all my project files are Live files).
It'll definitely be 64-bit.

Understand?
