VST / AU for Detroit/Deep Techno (FXs not Instruments)

Post by TechnoLover » Wed Apr 04, 2012 1:03 pm

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if you guys can help to choice a few FX VST (they haven't to be free) ...

I am working on Detroit/Deep Techno and Deep House ... (melodic styles)

I am not sure of what VST to choice, do you know which ones are used by the Detroit Techno producers? I am mostly looking for filters, delay and reverbs (maybe a chorus or a flanger/phaser too).

I know threads like this one have been discussed a few times already but I don't know if some VST would be better than some other for this particular styles...

I hope you guys had no problems answering my 'weird' english :-D

Thank you :)

Noone ? Some friends told me the FabFilter plugins should do the trick but I really want to be sure of what to buy as rather spend my money in VSTi than FX ...

As a long time Detroit Techno producer myself I can give you some really good recomendations for Synths and FX/Mastering tools. Please see my recomendations below:

Instruments
Ohmforce Minimonsta (Great for detroit techno basslines and pads)
Native Instruments Reaktor (I use it to create my percussion tracks, the 'Newskool' ensemble is great.
Korg Legacy Polysix
Native Instruments FM8 (Used mainly for loading up old DX7 presets such as 'Solid Bass')
Audiorealism Bassline (For some acid basslines)
Arturia Prophet/Jupiter/Moog Modular (For fx sounds, transitions etc)

FX
FabFilter Timeless (Amazing delay plugin, I use it on nearly every track I produce)
PSP85 (Another great delay plugin capable of transforming sounds)
Filterbank Pro (Great for lovely old school filtering)
Nebula Space Reverb (Real analogue reverb with nice realtime control)
ModVerb (A highly versatile reverb, great for Detroit percussion)

Mixing and Mastering
Punch Compressor - 1176 emulation (Used on all my drum and percussion tracks)
FabFilter Pro-Q - Fantastic EQ that I use all of the time
MSI Stereo Buss Compressor - Nice SSL emulation used on the master track to glue everything together

I hope that helps :D

I'll bump this old post in case of anyone has something to add (any other suggestion, any new VST that was released since the post was made, ...)

Thank you so much! :) minimals helped so much!

would like to find some other filter delay plugins :)
