30 bucks is alot for an overlay. at first the lpc may seem a little overwhelming, but after using it a little bit the controls make alot of sense. I just printed out the manual and kept it close, now i dont need it.

oh and if you use with a nanokontrol (one or two) he is developing a new one called "mapease" which is absolutely amazing. i feel a little better than nanoplus actually. total control that is totally customizable. I'm beta testing now and dont know if i could use that controller without it anymore. check it out on his site. also works with apc 20, 40, livid code and maschine.

Thanks for your responses guys.

I have never heard of LPC before so I'm gonna dig into google and see what it brings!

**Edit**

Ok I've checked it out, watched the videos, looks very cool, but also looks quite complex!! I'm seeing lots of buttons all glowing the same colours lol!!

How long did it take you guys to get to a point where you had learned it (both the Launchpad & LPC) enough for it to be effective in your compositions?

I need that overlay for my launchpad! I was unsure how to add it to my basket it though....

FYI I was able to memorise the controls for the native kontrol template but manually labeling my APC and by printing the manual. Its definitely worth the effort to help commit the controls to memory.

Hi there, LPC is pretty awesome, Stray brought out his first APC40 template when I was working with bomes, I chose to move onto m4l after seeing what he'd achieved would take me ages to learn...

As a result though I took my devices ina more performance route rather than producing, you can see the Launchpad device over at my website www.isotonikstudios.com it's called Oktopad, named as it gives 8 additional scenes of functionality to the Launchpad using user 2 mode whilst leaving the standard functionality intact...

It didn't take me long to get the hang of it. I'd say by the third or fourth track I had most of the basic functions and navigation memorized. LPC isn't really that complex and it's laid out very logically. Each mode has a different look so it's easy not to get lost.

You can get by sitting there with the manual open, but trust me an overlay makes things a whole lot easier. I never have to wonder what a particular button does what and search for that mode in the manual. I just look down. It really makes the LPC/Launchpad combo feel like real hardware and not just a script. Not to mention...I originally was considering getting Maschine or grabbing another MPC (I've owned two and sold them) since I was really missing that style of drum programming, but LPC completely solved that for me. 30 bucks is nothing when I was about to drop $400-500.

Here's the photoshop file for the overlay. You'll have to upload it to the styleflip flash designer as a jpeg and stretch it evenly till it sits right.

http://www.filefactory.com/file/4z4tiep ... verlay_psd

Like I said earlier you can just order a blank skin from the designer and then put in the special instructions box on the checkout page that you want one just like "Order Number: 3587".

Great, thanks.

Well I've been playing with it for a little while now and I'm going to buy one.

I overcame the initial confusion by grouping tracks/channels etc which has made me think differently about how I go about things. It's also affected the way I think about arrangements and constructing tunes for the better.

Maybe one day when I'm rich I'll buy Max for live and use the above software with the Launchpad!

Thanks for your responses guys much appreciated.
