I'm new to Max and I have been trying to build this seemingly simple thing for a while now. I followed the first 10 or so tutorials for max and watched a ton of video tutorials, but it is all still quite strange to me.
I'm trying to create a random generator to produce tempo synchronized random numbers using the drunk object to control a designated synth/ effect parameter. Here is a pic of the sloppy mess I created so far. The metro thing I copied from a post in this forum somewhere. It is supposed to give me a bang every beat ... ?
What works - I can select any parameter that is available in a synth or effect.
What doesn't work - The rest.
Thanks,
Bhang

Easiest way to get help on your patch is to post it.
Use "Copy Compressed" under the Edit menu and paste it in here.

The 1n gives a bang every bar. You want 4n if you want a bang every quarter note.
When i load your patch it does indeed bang out notes from drunk.
If you open the Max Window, do you see any errors? (Under Window menu in Max)

I figured it out. The first error was that I had to change the range from an integer at 1-127 to a floating point 0. to 1. . That at least fixed the range issue. Then I changed the quantization value and was able to make it work. Crap patch, but at least it works now.
Thanks for the help

thing is some things you'll want to attach this to are 1-127, others are 0-1.
Download this device and see how I dealt with it.

In this device I have a way to attach to whatever perimeter and send random numbers to it as you're working on.
