Can I use Max Runtime to run Max instruments for free?
Hey, I am running Ableton Live Suite on my Macs and very much enjoy the built-in instruments.
I'd like a few new toys in the atmospheric/drone/ethnic departments - ideally free - and stumbled across a couple made in Max, on the Ableton website.
I don't fancy paying 200 euros when I'm not planning to design anything just yet.
Can I run these using Max Runtime - which I believe is free - so I can start enjoying and using other people's creations?

You can use external apps running with max runtime [like a lot of monome apps].
You cannot use internal Max4Live instruments with the runtime without authorization for M4L.
I can only push you to go for the 30days trial period and unlock M4L.

I'm finding this a little confusing.. Can I use these sorts of items? http://maxforlive.com/library/index.php
And when you say unlock M4l.. You mean fork out 200 euros?

So the basic summary is that to even use any of the Max4Live instruments I have to fork out 200 euros?
Apart from the benefits of being able to make your own instruments, the idea of an audience consisting only of people who have also splashed out 200 euros hardly seems inspiring..
I guess that's why iOS is mopping up developers.

Some monome-dedicated Max patches allow you to send audio out via ReWire on the DAC or DSP options section.
