Hello Forum
Today i recognized a different behaviour with the render settings.
First it seems to make a difference whether plugin latency compensation in the options is enabled or not.
i was aware that it has effects on the playback but i wasnt aware of that it also affects the rendering.
second: it seemde to make a difference how big the buffer size is. i had a high cpu rate so i worked with a bigger buffer and rendered it with these settings cause i forgot to switch back. the exported file was different from the ones before.
is it better to render in realtime?
should i only for the export set the buffersize as low as possible on my soundcard to get better results?
maybe i miss some things here but i thought that these settings only would affect the actual playback. i always thought that as soon as i hit "export audio" ableton would take care about that it renders everything as it should be in the best way possible. but it seems not to do that.
so any advice on how i can optzimize the render process are pretty much appreciated!
best render/export settings?
Re: best render/export settings?
there are several options on the export audio dialogue window that pops up... dithering for example... many of those options could change the resulting file, that's what they're for. maybe listing what settings you're using or better yet, providing a screen shot would help.
Re: best render/export settings?
i wish i could help, ive been having trouble rendering my files it works i always get a wav file to play in windows and itunes but my audio always pops and craks with buffersize high or low! but when upload and played in soundcloud thru asio system thru monitors it dont pop or crackle only when i play thru windows?
my bad no input just also stressing need help with the same situation the process of rendering a track and making sure it dont pop or crakle.
" i always thought that as soon as i hit "export audio" ableton would take care about that it renders everything as it should be in the best way possible. but it seems not to do that"...........i agree that would be nice!!

thx for the replies. i am aware of dithering and that live cant choose everything.
but that things like the option for auto latency compensation which doesnt show up in the actual export dialogue have an affect on the rendered file just confuses me. since the result was unacceptable i would never ever want to render like this so ableton should not use these setting when exporting.
and also why the buffer settings of my audio card (focusrite saffire) influences the result confueses me. things seem to get out of sync...
so i am just wondering with what settings i can get the tightest sync or what other things i should have in mind when exporting (let's exclude dither, samplerate or bitdepth settings)?
i hope i could make my point clear.

Re: best render/export settings?
i dunno if this will work, because i record much of my music Live and do not use many plugins but... you could save another copy of the set (just in case) and then try to freeze/flatten tracks first... then export.
it's a workaround i know, but maybe it could give you some sure footing in terms of trying to isolate what is causing your issue.

Re: best render/export settings?
thx h20only
i must admit that i havn't used the freeze option so much by now and probably it is more stable to render the files and then bounce it.
But still i am interested in the process behind the overall epxorting options and settings.
in the live manual there isn't much written about it.
has anyone insights to those?
