Definitely get the full version, I don't evne know why they made the smaller version as the knobs are critical IMO.

the mk 1 version is great but there is something appealing about the limitations of the mikro

The mikro is fine for me. I have an apc40 so Ive plenty of knobs to turn. The mikro is more compact and so I can take it to work and play there too. Of course if you don't have the luxuriate of an apc I can see why you would suggest the full version.

DESTRO.....yeah i will be waiting for my check  you made the right choice. i wish i had of waited, or just bought maschine in the first place. the bad thing is, it's software, so, a pain in the ass to return without proving to G. center that it's not installed on your computer (at least that is what those tool bags told me when i asked if i could return it) :|
TAREKITH....the knobs ARE pretty crucial. not having to "shift" to get to everything also kind of rules. i actually like the pads on MIKRO better than on maschine...for some reason? they are supposed to be the same right? but for some reason, the mikro pads feel better? i get why they made the smaller version, its so NI can sell to people who can't shell out 600 bones for the full monty....i think it would be a great option, if i didn't have the cash (and a 100 dollar off any item over 599 taxday coupon at G.CENTER) + it is a lot more portable than the big guy, easier to pack around.
STARVING....i like the whole "paint myself in a corner" approach to making music....its so punk rock! those knobs though, just clinched it for me, it definitely makes a huge difference in workflow...not to mention playing live (which i hope to do again sometime in my life)+ im actually trying to just use maschine instead of carrying a bunch of equipment around...so in a sense, im trying to paint myself in a corner???
TAFF...the mikro is cool, i like it, im actually going to keep mine, and like you, take it on the go. i have an APC40....but as i said before, i haven't integrated maschine into LIVE yet....i haven't felt the need so far? i don't know.....its pretty bad ass as a stand alone.

I got the mikro. i love it so far even though i still need to become an expert. I use it in conjuction with an Evolution UC33 controller, so I have plenty of knobs. I just control all the effects and volume from Live with the UC33 and launch clips with the Mikro, plus all of the features of the Maschine software right at your fingertips. It's so easy to bounce back and forth between midi mode for controlling Ableton and the Maschine mode for programming all of the sounds. I just got the wood side-panels for the Mikro too. Looks great with the wood paneling.
