Hi,
I would like to build a patch M4L to make Scratch with a audio clip (to control by my surface of control), like vinyl Scratch.
Then, I would like to control the playback head of the audio clip (forward and backward) with one of my external controller.
I started to study the LOM (Live Object Model). I will use “playing_position” to have the information of the position of the playback head on the leds of my controller (like Arc / livid code).
But when I modify “playing_position” of M4L ("float" to "set playing_position $1" to "live.object"), I do not hear the sound of the clip (forward, backward, differents speeds/pitch). I would like to be able to do that. Is it possible ?
Thank you
Best regards

To make “vinyl” scratch with M4L ?
Re: To make “vinyl” scratch with M4L ?
You would have to buffer the audio into one of max's objects to do something like this, id advise searching on the cycling 74 forum for the best place to start....

You could try this as a starter if you have gen and max 6: http://pmbeaudoin.wordpress.com/logiciels/
Like S4racen says you need to load a clip into a buffer and then control the playhead or the speed.
You could even use groove.

If the clip name in Ableton is the same as the file name (and you make sure the file is in the Max file path) then you can get the name of the playing clip via the api.
You might then need to add the file extension.
Then you can read into a buffer object.
Which you can play back with groove.
How do you do attachments in this forum? Can't remember if you can or not.
Oh well try this. The sound file must be a .wav, it must lie in your Max file path somewhere and the name of the clip in Live must be the same as the file but without the extension eg filename (Live) filename.wav (HDD).

I should have said - this is very basic. You'll want to process the speed data in some way to make it more 'realistic'
