Re: turning vinyl to mp3 on macbook pro
The audio jack on your Macbook is dual-purpose. You can switch it between input and output:
System Preferences > Sound > Input > "Use audio port for: Sound Input"
Then all you'll need is a headphone/RCA y-cable and a phono preamp of some sort.
System Preferences > Sound > Input > "Use audio port for: Sound Input"
Then all you'll need is a headphone/RCA y-cable and a phono preamp of some sort.

hmmm how do i enable the "line in" ??
Re: turning vinyl to mp3 on macbook pro
You had good results in the past when connecting your turntable directly to a mic input? What did you do with the grounding wire?
I would get a phone preamp in whatever form like a dj/turntable mixer or something like the ART Pro USB Phono Plus.
