DJs How do you get rid of your mouse?
Currently I am looking at developing my Ableton setup and I want to get rid if the need to use a mouse to start and stop tracks. Was wondering how some of you DJs out there accomplish this. I'm also looking at getting a BCF2000 and would like some input on how some of you guys set it up (knobs and buttons that is).

The bcf has 16 buttons up top, ok? Here's how I did it on my bcr - not for djing, mind you, but it's the same thing.
if you want to do that whole-mess-of-clips-in-there thing, then don't assign anything to launch the scene. Instead, assign each of the 8 top-most buttons to launch current clip. Set the 8 buttons below to cue for those channels.
And here's my trick (not really much of a secret, but cool nonetheless: Use one of the encoder groups to remote the A-B assignments for the tracks. This let's you dial up which channels to crossfade - very quickly!

mbp 2.66, osx 10.6.8, 8GB ram.
I use the keymapping in Live to get around this. Q, W, E start clips in the 1st slot of each track. These are my "turntables". A,S, D trigger empty slots further each track, which effectively stops each clip.

I mapped my arrow keys to my nostromo in the beginning, but after doing it for a while, I just found I liked using a mouse. Although I love elimating equipment wherever possible, i decided it wasnt a big deal. Now I have a trackball. If you get a small one, it wont be that big of a hassle, and you will have more freedom when it comes to doing certain things.
