Aside from keyboard commands/combos, all the other stuff like triggering clips and such can be done with the MPD32. It just takes more time setting it up compared to the newer generation of controllers which have those functions preset on a dedicated section of the controller, like APC's and Maschine etc.nek4life wrote:I do like the mpd as a control surface. I figured out how to map overdub to one of the bottons and also using midiStroke I mapped undo and redo so I can just use the controller while creating clips.
But then I watched a video about how you can use the big maschine as an ableton controller to launch clips and stuff!![]()
Anyway, going to keep messing with this, I have 42 more days before I have to return it.
My own example: the MPD is used almost exclusively with a couple of drumrack presets/templates I built. The first pad bank uses the pads for normal sample triggering, the second pad bank is mapped to the mute switches of the used (max 16) samples, the third pad bank has all kinds of Live functions assigned to it like Clip navigation in Session View. The first encoder section (above the transport controls) maps to macros of the drumrack, the second to panning of the samples, third to all kinds of drumrack functions. All of this can be assigned without a second program for converting midi to keyboard commands.
