Importing Song, decrease in quality?

Just a quick question. When you guys import an entire song to slice up in Live, are you noticing a decrease in quality from what the file sounds like in iTunes? At first I was thinking it was due to the iTunes EQ settings, but it sounds much weaker and thinner in Live.

turn the volume up. louder is perceived as better. also make sure warp is off until you know how to use it.

iTunes usually performs some 'audio enhancing' processing on the tunes it plays, such as bass maximising and harmonic exciting. It may make a finished mix sound better for some, but it's not something you'd want as a default when you're constructing a mix.

Sure, I knew that. But this is an option that must be turned on via iTunes Preferences. The default playback mode of iTunes is neutral - or is something else going on that one needs to know about?
