It would be nice if you could label your samples in the Ableton library + a search function so that you can recall your favorite samples very easily.

1) Select in a track the number of bars you want to addDutchMusicMan wrote:And a function: "Insert time".
2) Press Ctrl+I

This is available. In the browser just collapse your Ableton projects folder and find the project and the part you want to reuse. Then drag and drop in the new project.DutchMusicMan wrote:New Devices:

1. Sample accurate audio editing in the arrange window.
2. A mixer view that doesn't look like it was made by mattel toys.
3. Tab to transient.
4. An open API for plugin manufactures to make "Live versions" of their plugins.
5. Performance improvements during large mixing and production sessions. i.e. Live doesn't fall apart in terms of timing and sound quality like it currently does.
6. Eucon support
7. Browser location shortcuts
8. More audio editing features - see pro tools

As well as most of the items already mentioned my wish list would include:
A simple way to map menu functions (such as Save, Save As, Collect All And Save, etc) to user defineable buttons on control surfaces.
Better control surface interfacing EG: on screen faders reflecting actual manual fader positions etc.
Double click editing of text fields and labels, like track name.
64 Bit.
Better notation capability for track/project parameter documentation linked to the project. At present you have to manually create a lesson or a text file.
A way to manage and display lyrics.
Pitch correction effect.
Live performance enhancement like Cubase has.
Better spectrum analysis and track comparison tools to help identify out of phase and frequecy clashes.
Musical scoring tools.
Better drawing tools for envelopes like curve on grid, linear fade to grid etc.
A more realistsic mixer view.
Better colour schemes.
My 2P worth

Multichannel audio for Max4Live - would mean surround sound, live convolution & resynthesis, sidechaining, cross-synthesis, surround granular effects and so on. I really can't get the above mentioned in anything other than Kyma and even then... Kyma is not as powerful a DAW as Ableton.
I'd also like to be able to record automation into clip envelopes without having to use the IAC bus workaround.

I would like the master spectrum analyzer (that I wished for earlier in this post) to analyze different channels or groups wirh different colors. Preferably the same colors as the tracks. So if your bass-group is red and your kick is blue, you will see both spectrum-lines as red and blue and you can easily place them together when you are mixing or programming the sounds. Voxengo Span has the same kind of function.

Re: Here is my (long) wishlist for Anleton 9.
I would like for EQ8 to have more 'scenes' and a 'morph between scenes' knob. So if you adjust like 4 points of the EQ and save it as 'scene 1' and a few beats further you adjust point 1 trough 4 in a different setting ans save that as 'scene 2', then you can automate the 'morph between scenes' knob, so that you can use EQ8 as a creative filter. An 'analoque' setting on EQ8 would improve the creativity...

+1 for multichannel

I'd like to add Automation for Transient Envelopes for audio clips. Would be awesome, because I really need this feature right now actually.
