MIDI Control for Impulse Samples?

Post by irishfan » Thu Jul 07, 2005 3:47 am

Are there MIDI CC# assignments for sample on/off on Impulse? I would like to trigger drum samples on Impulse from the pads on my Kontrol 49 keyboard.

It appears MIDI map mode does not work on the samples?

u just need to assign your pad to the note the drumsample is assigned too.

you will see the note in the impulse clip

play with the zoom tool

or remove the fold on the midi clip

am i clear ?

i hope :)

I do this all the time with my electribe, its a great way to do drumtracks

Got it, thanks! That was helpful. Now I just need to figure out how to assign the pads on my Kontrol49.

This may be dumb question, but I'm a newbie...how are midi channels assigned on Live? Does midi channel # = midi track #? e.g. if I have live track 3 used for MIDI drums, and live track 4 used for MIDI synth, will there be a note conflict between instruments (drum sample and synth note plays at same time)?

open the in/out view of the track and change the channel under 'midi from'. change the midi channel accordingly on your controller/keyboard.

Thanks! On Kontrol49 I assigned dedicated channel for keyboard/pitch and all other controls on another midi channel. Used appropriate MIDI ins on Live tracks, and it worked.

Starting to get a better handle on MIDI assignments.

You guys ROCK! It's good to know there's a good support group out there...
