Ableton won't play ball with my APC-40

Hi all,

I recently bought a new Akai APC-40, but am having problems getting it to work in Ableton Live 7.

I connected the APC, and Windows found it, and installed it using the disc that came with it

I launched Live but it is not appearing in the list of control surfaces.

If I press a button on the Akai it does show activity in Ableton (the tiny little yellow box top right of the screen flashes)

I installed the Akai fine on my desktop PC, so I now it is fully working

I tried another USB slot on the laptop, same issue

I tried uninstalling Ableton completely (which cleared out all my old control surface info which I thought might help) but still the same problem.


What else can I try? Why does this happen, for a product which has been developed specifically for this software?

Make sure you have updated to the latest rev of Live 7, earlier revs will not recognize the APC or Launchpad.

not 100% sure on this as I have always used it on live 8. I think you need to install the APC40 live edition and use that. It should look at your live 7 files and port em over (presuming you actually own the software). Don't think the official support is there for 7 though.

Do you have a cracked version of Live? I've heard they don't work well together.

update to 7.0.18 did the trick
