Unique Rap/Piano Beats Start to Finish
Hey guys, im very new to music production and ableton. My friends and I bought ableton live 8 with the intention of creating a rap album.
I have familiarized myself with ableton live 8 and have had much success using a casio ctk4000 midi keyboard for piano tracks. Although our vocal audio still screams "you idiots are recording in a basement" it is no longer because of bad audio quality. We have been recording clear vocal tracks with insignificant amounts of latency. A big hurdle im glad we've finally crossed. We are using an AT2020 usb condenser microphone. Besides the house speaker box and reciever plugged into the computer you are familiar now with our entire collection of equipment/software. Rather unimpressive? I'm aware.
So, I come to you for advice. What kinds of equipment, software, or knowledge can help us in our quest to create a studio quality (or passably close) album. We don't exactly have a disposable income, but we will do what we must to get this done! Please help if you are willing! Thank You!

We do this for the love, not the income. There's a lot of talent in the guys I've been workin with, but im no producer. I've got no formal or technical experience, but I do have ambition and patience. Our goal is to make an album and promote the shit out of it. We simply enjoy music! If we do this there is no losing. The experience is gratifying!

Well... I can't sing well. I can play a little electric guitar, but not with a great degree of skill. I do have a good ear for a unique sound and a pretty good understanding understanding of ableton having owned the program only for a month or so. I've been the sound tech/critic/computer guy for this crew. I've also had some sucess making beats strictly using ableton with no devices. I am very proud of the results. So far. I would say my talent is developing, but there's definately something there. BTW how does a guy answer a question like that with any humility.

Well while I do enjoy the challenges of figuring out things on my own. Alot can be gained from advice given by respected sources. I feel as tho I could easily produce a demo with a simple usb mic and ableton in a basement, but im curious to know about studio producing on a much larger scale. Near as I can tell, you guys are the place to start.
