Grouping vs routing

Hi,

Is there any advantages/disadvantages of grouping over simply routing the output of several tracks to an audio track set to "monitor in"? Particularily with regard to timing.

Thanks. Cant see that much difference myself and just would like to check on peoples experience before I configure one way or the other...

the advantage of grouping is that you can "hide" the grouped tracks in the group track. that keeps your set more tidy -at least visually
