i'm on a macbook running os x 10.6.3 with an external usb soundcard (just a line-in and a line-out).
here's what i'm trying to do:
zebra2 softsynth ---> audio to ext. out ---> external hardware effects ---> line-in (usb soundcard) ---> audio track ---> master ---> line-out (usb soundcard).
i have both of the audio input and output in live set to the line-in and line-out of the usb soundcard and the sound preferences for os x set to internal speakers or "built-in-output". i did the same routing on a pc with asio before and any audio set to "ext. out" went to the output that the operating system sound preferences was set to. however, when i try to do the same thing on a mac, the "ext. out" just goes to the output that ableton preferences are set to. maybe i'm not understanding what the "ext. out" is exactly, but this routing worked for me before on a pc, so what am i doing wrong here?
