Please consider punctuation when asking for help, so that we can better understand your issues.

Before you get bogged down with the launchpad, try to get sound out of Ableton Live on it's own. The Launchpad and Ableton work well together, but neither is a requirement of the other.

Load up a sample into clip view. If you do not understand what this means, then read through some documentation that came with your Launchpad, or download and read the Live Manual. Press play on the clip. Do you see your meters bouncing now? Do you hear audio? If meters are bouncing, specifically on the "Master" channel, and not blue, than you have an issue with your soundcard/speakers/headphones/volume level/etc.

If your Master Channel is bouncing, but is blue, it is likely trying to use an audio interface that is not available.

First, go to Preferences > Audio
Check the selections for "Audio Output Device" -- does it make sense? Are you using an external soundcard, or just whatever is available? Click on "Output Config" and make sure some of these options are enabled (yellow).
Then go back to Live's mixer, and make sure the Master Out selection is one that makes sense.

If you still do not have audio, then you need to sit down with the manual and read to understand setting up Live, and check your soundcard to make sure other sounds play from other programs.

Now that you have audio coming out of Live:
Go into preferences > Midi / Sync > And select Launchpad from the Control Surface List. Make sure to also select it for Input and Output.

From here, you can do any of the standard Launchpad stuff. Load up a drum rack with some samples and start banging away, trigger clips, play synths, etc. Read the quick start guide that came with the Launchpad to better understand what it's capable of.

Good luck, and please remember to write in complete thoughts with punctuation when you want someone else to read your questions.

I came looking for help with a launchpad, not a lesson in grammar. Excuse me.

He was saying that you don't make sense when you don't type properly. If you don't make sense, people can't help you. And if you can't understand the help that people give you, there's no point in anyone trying at all. (since someone already pointed out that your problem has NOTHING to do with Launchpad at all)

And I'm not posting an answer for you cause it's already been posted above, but you aren't paying attention.

Thankfully you received both, instead of just a lesson, which is what typically happens on the internets.

Did you get your Launchpad + Ableton issue sorted out?

There's a full set of lessons and a manual with every copy of Live..
Check out the Help menu within the program - the first 2 options are really helpful in situations like yours (very basic beginner stuff like getting the program to output sound). "Help View" brings up a side menu with lessons, instructions on how to setup your computer for audio, midi, etc.. "Read the Live Manual" is exactly as it sounds.. this opens up the .pdf manual.

For those that keep saying to check the manual: the manual is garbage. What little information it covers, is not thoroughly explained. I wouldn't expect the beginner user to be familiar with the jargon. But the manual makes no effort to get you familiar with the jargon. Every step it tries to take you through with anything, is short sighted. It doesn't teach you the program. The further I read, the more confused I get on how to work this program. It should be noted that I've used other music programs and I still can't figure out Ableton.

Okay. The first step is to find out which Launchpad you have.

Unfortunately there are like 6 different versions of Launchpad. If it is Launchpad S or newer, it shouldn't be a problem. If you have an original Launchpad, that can actually complicate things.

On that note, you have potentially two different problems.

1 is to make sure Live works, makes sound and is responsive to mouse clicks in Session View.

2 is to make sure your LP shows up, is functional, and to make sure that it does what is expected when you attempt to use it.

It would be very difficult to make sure 2 works if 1 isn't sorted out first.

So are you able to play sounds in Live without the Launchpad connected?
