 classic!

Live must indeed be pretty darn sexy for them to want to get sooo close... I reckon the Abes will flick one off in no time!

quite sad if you consider that cakewalk is one of the veterans of this market..
don't get me wrong .. I think cakewalk does the job...right ?
Well, I wouldn't call Cakewalk sad. I'd call em smart. Cause Ableton is a big boy. We are waiting on version 9. Had Ableton done a little more borrowing from Cubase, and Sonar and PT, we probably wouldn't even be having this discussion. Bitwig wouldn't even exist, of that I am sure. 8)

But Cakewalk does the job, yes. Its an audio editing powerhouse. That said, "let's call a cease fire." And not start a war about who's DAW is bigger.

:D :D
about BW.. we'll see how it "feels"..
I can relate to the 'angry employees thinking they can make it better' vibe...
I reserve the critique till after I have the beta for a couple of days...
So.. you've got the beta then? Installed?
Linear Phase has left the building..

even if its old and I really like what I see in bitwig .... I have to say it again, it's not funny how much it's a live copy even in details... even the drumrack looks the same.

[clears throat] you wouldn't really be asking for torrents here, would you?

I'm fairly sure he's joking. I'm also fairly sure that said torrent wouldn't exist.

These days, torrent is nothing related with pirate. As a matter of fact, the minimoog give away was done also via torrent. I assume you knew it but should ask as mod. (maybe 'torrent' word is in the alerm list?)

(correction)

No it's not that, more that you were pretty clearly asking for a torrent of a closed beta - i.e. a way to jump the queue. This forum is not the place to look for unauthorized access to any software, regardless of whether it's a commercial release or a beta.

it's a very useful thing...
Sonar also borrows from Ableton Live, with something called, "matrix view," which is basically a docked setup, type of sampling scenario where your audio is laid out like scenes and clips. This type of, "inspirational," feature developing, I don't have a problem with.

The fact that Bitwig seems to be a nearly exact copy, is a little troubling to me. Because to music producers, the daws are like, "musical instruments." Well, musical instruments, are better when they are unique, and you can always tell a copy..
3dot... wrote: unfortunately.. I've never really liked any product cakewalk made..
imo...they suffer from a severe lack of style...and a bad case of the underdog complex
Not sure what to say about this.. um, I've been using Rapture since 2007. I spent a little while as a Mac Person. Now I'm back on PC. Cakewalk's having a sale.. Five year Rapture User.. Sonar seemed pretty logical. I like a lot!

Different people, different tastes? Cakewalk ---> Definitely the underdog!
i know right? every synthesizer has it's own midikeyboard layout, it's crazy unique.
honestly, they might have copied the interface from live, sure, but that is sort of expected from employes coming from that company. but bws has and promises a lot of thing that live doesn't have, and this is what is so appealing with it.
also what has been said about usine, plogue bidule, audio mulch and so on is a very good point as well.

Cheap things have a nasty habit of breaking, or being unusable; I've got a long list of music software, and hardware to back that up; too long to write and explain each one; how it broke, or why its unusable.

expensive things break and have problems, as we see here every day, $400 is not what i would call cheap anyway

people with lots of experience are not bitwig's target market

Perhaps it was a joke?

I've seen many blatant requests for pirated software (including where to find cracked copies of Live) go completely unnoticed around here... need some consistency if you're going to start giving people grief about this stuff.
