i was watching an interview with feed me and they asked him what tips he had, he said "You need good referencing, so get a tune you like, bounce..." and then he got cut off
i was guessing he is saying get a tune you like, bounce it to audio then play it along side your track and take notes and stuff.
is that right or is it something completely different and I'm being an idiot.

Yes, he is talking about what you think he is talking about!
...except that he probably didn't say to bounce the tune you are using as reference to audio, since that would probably already be an audio track, more likely "get a tune you like, bounce down your track, and a/b the two"

"get a tune you like, bounce with me, yeah, come on, bounce with me!"
