Has anyone created presets of other scales for the Scale device? Like dorian, mixolydian etc?

yes, do a search for "the covert operators" I think they released a live pack that had a ton of different scales.

When it comes to music theory and preset scales in Live, nothing is more complete than this (that I have found):

As far as I know, it has all of the scales one could think of using in addition to the typical chords within each basic key. For those of us that geek out about music theory it's definitely something to check out!

Or you could just learn the scales, it would take you one whole day! Just kidding

But honestly, I've always found improv playing with the scale instrument to give me less control over my arrangement. It will sound right, but not right on! (augmented/diminshed chords and notes outside the scale such as passing tones are by the wayside)

Who needs ableton at all when you can just learn to play a real instrument and play everything live?

Scale presets are handy for generative music if you arent a whizzbang max user for example. Its also a quick way of learning a scale if you dont have any theory

once and for all...
while I appreciate Brian Eno... and some of his records..
he's known to say some very silly things...sometimes ...just for the sake of being "different"..
if I would've known him personally.. in this case I would tell him to stfu..
Eno knows his scales btw... he's from the pre-MIDI pre-patches era after all..

some of them.. the majority I collected over the years from various places...
.. I very rarely use the scale device...
I think the cov. ops presets should be in there too..

I've never used the scale device, not even sure what it is, must have a look now.

It's a device that constrains all incoming notes to a selected scale. Essentially it automatically does what you were trying to convey with your "can't play any wrong notes" tutorial, except one would need to know even less about music using the Scale device as long as they had the presets that told them what scale they were playing in.

well i don't think eno says things for the sake of being different, i think he is different, and thinks differently...no need to prove anything at this point, except his generosity of talking about it at all

that said, i like about 1/4 of his stuff, but i can still appreciate his abilities...why he's gettign 100 grand to consult productions, and we are here in the Live forum
