audio device for clip-localized tempo

hi,
i'd really like to see a device that lets me play audio clips at non-global tempos. i want to be able to crossfade two audio tracks if they're not in the same tempo- a geeky, but awesome effect known as a metric modulation. any suggestions?

i wouldn't be disappointed if this is just something i have to program myself.

Unfortunately the local tempo parameter of clips cannot be controlled with M4L.
