Remix Nine Inch Nails!

Post by Alex » Thu Jun 30, 2005 1:31 pm

Hello Live users,

As some of you on the forum have noticed, Trent Reznor has released separated tracks for his song "Only," available for download in Ableton Live format:

http://www.nin.com/access/only/

The drums have been set up in Impulse, the Clips are separated in Session view, and the Live Set includes a few remixing tips to get you started. It's a great opportunity to expose your remix talents and show why Ableton is the best remixing software available.

Have fun, and make us proud!

Best Regards,
The Abletons

Yeah, this was a lot of fun. I did a quick remix using only the files supplied by Trent.

Live's ease of use for this sort of work is immaculate!

absolutely -- it's so easy to test a dozen different bits of a dozen different songs against one another, check for rhythm discrepancies, etc... the mp3 support in v5 will further streamline the process for sample geeks like me...

i remember when reznor did something similar back when the fragile came out - the remixing software was nightmarish (maybe beatnik?).

I love the idea, I bought the album, and I wish I had more time to remix these, but If he were to release Sin, a Warm Place, Hurt, Happiness in Slavery, anything from "Halo" 1-5, I would be doing nothing else.

Head like a Hole with the Live 5 features... who would need sunlight?

as much as i loved those "songs, it was some of his later production skills that i admired the most.

"We're In This Together" had something like 90 guitars in the chorus.
now THATS one i'd love to have the .als of!

I downloaded the files (oh yeah, thanks for the initial heads up on this AdamJay,) on sunday, but haven't made the time to check out yet.

Rather than compare his albums I'll give it a go!

Of course the production's better, but I would be honored to work with all of that dated tape!

I'll take 8 tracks of basic audio tracks that have fermented in the mass media limelight for fifteen years over 90 highend tracks of digital guitar any day! But then either would be a difficult, timely process.

However, I see your point clearly and I am greatful that for his generous idea.

What a nice polite community :D

What a nice day :)

i must admit i am really impressed with how this is put together - with the lessons and everything....far more than a collection of samples..

obviously alota time was used putting this together.. i can imagine NIN fans downloading the demo of ableton just to try it out..get em hooked on production!

i wonder if it would be possible in the future if somethin like this was on the cd single with a demo of ableton - so that listeners can play with it on their pcs.. i messed around with it for an hour or so just playin about..

blooody cool

on this topic, does anyone here have the "The Hand That Feeds" samples in a Live friendly format? can't seem to find anyone w/ garageband to get into the thing. actually haven't attempted to decompress the file yet and i'm not sure how GB handles data. will i find .aif files that i can swipe or do i really truely need to find someone w/ GB to get access to the tasty audio goodness.
