Major processor overloading issue - please help urgently

Post by Winnaz » Thu Jul 12, 2012 7:48 am

Hi all, I have just done a complete system restore on my laptop due to getting the Ramnit/Ramon virus courtesy of a driver disc from an ebay purchase and I decided to move from Vista to Windows 7 32bit. I have reinstalled Live 8.2.2 and also Massive, though upgraded from 1.3 to 1.5. Previously I was running Live fairly smoothly, only really had some issues when I started running up into a lot of active midi tracks. Now even at relatively low loads my processor usage is through the roof and I'm getting terrible dropouts.

Its an Acer Aspire 6920G, 2.1g processor, 2g ram. I have tried Asio4all and it makes it worse - which was the same as before I did the restore.

I've tried setting my buffer to maximum and everything in between and still the problem exists.

Is there something I'm missing?

Have you enabled 'High Performance' in W7's power options?

I think you installed anti virus software. e.g., Mcafee has CPU spike.
