wierd tempo drops when playing live (6.0.7)

Post by The Phat Conductor » Sat Jun 02, 2007 1:40 am

i had this strange thing happen to me yesterday and i can't figure out why. for some reason the tempo kept plunging down to like 20bpm and i'd have to frantically try to get it back up without giving away that i fucked up.

not fun!

has this happened to anyone else?

i really really want to avoid it on saturday.

I've noticed sometimes that when I'm weirded-out, my computer can weird-out. I've noticed that with my cars too. Is there a ghost in the machine? How can it be? and yet it's true.

when i can quit pushing against the river, whatever that may mean at the time, things have been known to start working again. It's a fine line I'm finding between strong willed intent and the universe going "back up one step man, you got off track" and I'll be like "oh yeah, that's back to the basis of what I REALLY wanted, " and I didn't notice i got off on a tangent. Ya' know, "what is it that I'm REALLY trying to achieve,?" there may be an altogether better way

But shit that doesn't help the gig.

Miller: A lot o' people don't realize what's really going on. They view life as a bunch o' unconnected incidents 'n things. They don't realize that there's this, like, lattice o' coincidence that lays on top o' everything. Give you an example; show you what I mean: suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

Otto: You eat a lot of acid, Miller, back in the hippie days?

Miller: I'll give you another instance: you know how everybody's into weirdness right now?...

Phatman - external devices? tempo changes drawn in somewhere? can you recreate it at home? revert to an older version?

yea, i'm gonna try to reproduce it again today.

tempo wasn't mapped to anything in the template i was using. i normally use the scene rename trick to change tempo.

maybe it's gremlins....

Are you sure you don't have any automation recorded in Arrange View, or a key mapped to tempo?

speaking of tempo change within a scene...how the heck do you create a tempo change that gradually changes over time within session without using a knob. would be very helpful if there was a clean way to do this.

cheers!

AFAIK it's either step change with a scene, else a job for a knob, unless you know when it's coming and put it in arrange view at a certain bar.
