What Nord patch is this, and how do I recreate it in Live?
First things first- I am not a particularly big fan of this song, but I watched the session and fell in love with the patch the keyboard player is using. It's exactly the tone I need for a track I'm working on, but I can't figure out what instrument it is. I'm sure this is super simple and easy, but I just can't nail it.
Here's the track, keys come in a little ways into the song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FZtN7T5PXM
So what I'm asking is:
1. What is the instrument/name of the nord patch?
2. How can I recreate this in Electric?
OR
3. Where can I get a sample set to load into Sampler (free or paid)?
4. What Nord model is that? I'm researching which model to get for live use.
Thanks!

The synth is Nord Electro. The sound is similar to that of a Fender Rhodes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYGDAspkXIY

You think it's most similar to a Rhodes? I use a LOT of Rhodes, and none of my sample banks or synthesized patched come close to that sound.the_planet wrote:The synth is Nord Electro. The sound is similar to that of a Fender Rhodes.
I figured it was an electro, anyone know which model/size? I kept pausing the video abut couldn't get a shot of the whole thing or the logo anywhere on it.
Thanks!

Not a Rhodes.
It's a Wurlitzer
Vibrato is key here.
Electric is for recreating that in live, (although it's far from a Nord Electro, which is still a tiny bit from a real Wurli ... (I own both

Can I raise a practical question at this point? Are we gonna do "Stonehenge" tomorrow?

Awesome, I was thinking Wurli but I didn't have any models in my library to check. I'm at work now, so I'll see if I can dig up some Wurli when I get home.
How is that new partner instrument that soniccouture did? It has Rhodes and Wurli samples for under $100. Would that be my best bang-for-the-buck, or is there something of equal or better value for free/cheaper? I'm a big fan of purmagnetik if they happen to have a Wurli for $12.
Edit:
Would I be better off with the soniccouture pack for $90ish or this one for $12?

If I went with puremagnetik, it would be $24 for rhodes and wurli samples, so is there a $70 difference in the quality of the soniccouture pack?

soniccouture would be my choice.
Puremagnetik make awesome library's but they tend to lean more on sounddesign and electronice. Not recreating as realistic as possible.
69 bucks is a steal imho
Native instruments also has an electric piano library (runnable in free kontakt player).

there are some Ableton presets that try and emulate a Wurli using 'electric' ...
they're in the 'instrument rack' presets..
also.. if you own NI Komplete... plenty of Wurlis/Rhodes/Hammonds etc. in there..
