albeton- way to check all levels? making sure everything con
not doing this live. when i say all levels i mean volume db, high, mid, low. check meaning show numerical value
what i'm doing is make a mixtape and i want to "master" or fix all the levels. i don't want one track to be louder than another etc etc. is there a way to show the levels of everything or a way to check everything is consistent throughout the mix?

If you click and drag up the divider that sits above the fader you will get numerical values.
You can also group a multiband comp and duplicate it to get 3 of them - solo each multiband comp to a low/mid/hi frequency. Soloing each comp to see what each band is doing. Just make sure its not compressing anything! heh

the mixer gui is resizable.. make a track bigger and peak values appear..
aside from that there's 'spectrum' ... a freq. analyzer
there's also a 'multiband' compressor which is handy..
and some handy mastering racks in the 'audio device rack' presets..

the thing is..plox wrote:If you click and drag up the divider that sits above the fader you will get numerical values.

when you connect the 3 multibands back together again.. even if not compressing anyhting..there is a phasing issue..

Re: albeton- way to check all levels? making sure everything con
is there a tutorial out there? you guys are mentioning a lot of features but i simply have no idea how to use them

are they not in parallel in the effects rack?
Can someone clarify this?
thats wierd... i cant hear any phase issues! does that mean im f^*@d

Use Live's peak meters to make sure you are not going over zero to avoid distortion. Use a third party RMS meter and/or your ears to make sure the perceived volumes are consistent throughout the mix. You can find freeware (as in legit) RMS meters on the interwebs. EQ when necessary (again use you ears). Put a limiter on your master channel to catch any stray peaks (it should not be compressing most of the time).

There's this thing called the "Manual" which explains all the features within the program in detail for people who aren't familiar with them.unknown00 wrote:you guys are mentioning a lot of features but i simply have no idea how to use them
You can access it from the Help menu in Live.
Re: albeton- way to check all levels? making sure everything con
i've been trying to learn and use limiter for the past 3 days but i just can't get it. i put a limiter on the master (as i read is recommended) and it lowers the volume of some tracks (not all). then when i up the volume of the individual track it gets distorted. anyways, can someone direct me to how to use limiter properly? i literally spent countless hours researching, watching youtube videos, and messing with values but it makes things worse than before
also, i can't seem to be able to expand the mixer to see numerical values of levels. i am in arrangement view
