Crossfader Crackle

My crossfader crackles like mad when I move it, slowing down the song tempo too..... is there anything to avoid this? It annoys me no end.

OK I'm replying to myself here: Seems to be cause by the fact that I use more than 3 AU instruments -- sad occurence of computer slowness after a mere 2 years.

Can you run any of those AU instruments as VSTs or another format? I've heard that this helps in thses situations...

OK, that's a very good point. I never did because Logic only supports AU and I don't want to install more than necessary..... I'll try.
