Post by intro5000 » Mon Jul 11, 2005 4:32 pm

i'm looking for a relatively inexpensive keyboard to lay down some keys. nothing fancy schmancy but i'm looking for the best sound i can get, and with the most variety of sounds. anyone??? thanks.

I think you will need to provide a little more for good replies-- like price range, and style of music?

i have always had good luck at pawn shops as i am poor.

mike is right your question is vague. i would compare it to asking "can anyone suggest a car to buy"

So am I

You need to tell people what your budget is, and exactly what you want really.

BUT on, a "bang for buck" basis, I would suggest the controller keyboard and softsynth route.

I presume you've got Live! ?

Try out some softsynths and samplers. There's loads of free ones you can check out.

For sheer variety of sounds, I would recommend Reason - a set of synths, samplers, drum machine, effects etc. all in a virtual "rack", connects to Live! by rewire. A huge soundbank of patches and samples too. Everything from orchestral sounds to techno noises. (Reason isn't free by the way, but you can get some good deals bundled with M-Audio control keyboards..)
