Okay, except for that exception, that's a great idea. Actually I had 2 hot dogs left that went grey/green on me, and I seal them up in ziplocks. WTF? Still, it would help me get more proactive about using stuff. It'd be nice if UPC codes contained an exp. date (assuming they don't) Then you could just scan it and boom, it's in. I probably shouldn't be writing this out loud, although it's quite probable there's alreayd an app out there for that, though this one might have better ideas. You guys promise to give me royalties if you use this, ok? Thanks.
There’s already at least 1 app that lets you track the expiration dates of your food. It’s just not named Spoiler Alert.
I know smart fridges are considered an extravagant novelty at this point, but toss in a scanner that you could just swipe your food across to inventory before you put it away and manually enter an expiration date if needed would be stellar. Toss in a web connection that would aggregate recipes based on what you have in your kitchen would be THE BEST. This will happen at some point. One will probably involve an iPad dock…which will also cloud sync to your computer and idevices to create grocery shopping lists.
You could also use something similar to track your meth lab needs. And we're back.
