Controlling Reaktor 5 sound generator ensembles

Post by lnikj » Tue Jul 12, 2005 12:58 pm

Can anybody tell me how to stop/start/record these?

The moment I start up skrewell or space drone, they start generating sound. Hitting start or stop on either the Reaktor or the Live transports has no effect on them, the sound just continues.

Have I missed the point with the way these sound generators work? (I am a newbie Reaktor user).

Cheers.

Thanks, Elemental.

I can record it by routing the audio out, but I cannot record a precise starting point, as by the time I have finished with Reaktor's dialogues it is already generating sound.

Is my only option to just start recording before I open the ensemble and then edit the sample start later?

ie. is there no way to turn these generators on and off?

Sorry if these seem like stupid questions.

I dont have R5, just R4. So i'm not sure... from here I would say your suggestion of starting recording b4 u open the ensemble is bestm if its important to get the beginning of the generated sound.

Thanks ... just wanted to make sure that I'm not missing a trick, but it looks like I'm not.

i do not have reactor, but i would guess that there is a preference menu.
and since i guessed right there i would guess that there is a way to tell r5 where to get its note signal from
and since guessed right there i would tell it to get its notes from live
if it is not a jacked copy you can look in the manual even jacked copies have online docs usually
(i have used a fair amount of ripped software in my day)
if you have registered it with ni you can call their tech support
but it has a way to controll the notes i can guarantee that

what happen with skrewell and space drone is normal : those ensembles don't use any "start/stop" module, just like metaphysical function for example. it means they don't receive any gate/pitch signal to generate sound unlike others ensembles.
you can change it by adding a"start/stop" module directly into the structure of the ensemble. but i can't help you there cause this is too complicated for me !!! you should ask this in the NI "reaktor's user library creator's section" sub forum.
just like elemental suggested, you should record the ensemble output and adjust the loop points into the clip.

it really is hard to get the reaktor to work with note / start stop data?
scratch it from the list

Thanks for all the replies.

I went the route suggested by Elemental in the end.

Just those "drones ensembles". They constantly generate audio without any external input. Just use volume automation in Live.

Normal Reaktor instruments behave exactly as you would expect them to do.
