I was paying for the Solo package before using the PRO package but when that expires I will drop down to Lite. Ironically, the only reason I will now pay for Lite is that I have a couple of tracks about to hit 100 downloads which is the maximum allowed with the free version of SC. I am actually a bit annoyed about this because I will now be paying $$ to make it possible to give something away for free. Now I know this is a common strategy in many avenues of life but am finding that when I have to contemplate doing it I get a tad pissed.

I originally was looking forward to the increased stats that the PRO package offers but was really disappointed. There really is nothing of value except maybe curiosity. I can’t for the life of me find any useful way to use the information from either who played my tracks or where they were played (its not as if people are beating the doors down to listen to my dribbling). If I remember correctly the Location was the only new bit of info over what the Solo package offered.

Music is my job, sort of. I am a music teacher. Return on Investment is important for me as well. As it relates to my job I am now of the opinion that a SC account is a necessary evil that offers zero ROI. I am actually convinced that it does nothing to support or enhance my profile either on the net or in my local community.
I was once a ‘Soundclouder of the day.’ All that did was attract truck loads of random followings where I am sure someone has communicated the idea that its ok to go through certain SC groups and mass follow for the sake of promo’ing their new track/s.
The new SC Beta is a bit of a fail IMO. Apparently the user base has been asking for a more social experience. Holy crap, why? If you are not a so called pro and are working a day job, washing your laundry, cooking your meals, doing a bit of exercise, making music, using Facebook/Twitter etc, The LAST thing you would need is yet another network that you have to keep an eye on... another 300-500 complete strangers you follow, 95% of which your have followed out of possibility rather than liking their music.
Ahhh... bit of a rant i know. Off to work on a project that uses a lot of wood...
