Power failure while recording?

Post by WaveRider » Thu Aug 09, 2012 5:48 pm

..well the power stopped when I was recording multitrack audio.

my HD is there but the files I was recording are at filesize=0... Is there a way to get the contents of theses files back? I was 5 min. into a recording.

thanks

I know Live uses temporary data so I wouldn't be surprised if some of your work is still there. What files are you looking at exactly? Your project files or the temporary data files I mentioned here?
sorry, it's on XP. I haven't found any temp files, I looked in the dir specified in live prefs. But in the project file there are zero bytes files...

I tried a program for deleted files but it did not work.

Wav, aiff and the like require finalization at the end of recording in order to be readable. It's very likely that a sudden power failure did not allow the process to be completed, in a similar way as when you abort a download. :( I might be wrong, though...

SoundHack can open any file, and allows you to add header info. Not sure of the equivalent on PC. Wavelab or Soundforge might have an open any / repair feature.
