And I definitely think that character is considering having Walt taken out. Which seems to be a growing them among all the characters.

Hmm. Interesting take.

I believe at this point that Walt will start being one step ahead of everyone. He's finally starting think like a leader.

Yeah he used the word Empire but he's gone off his rocker. Old Yeller.

He insists of Jesse staying for dinner to show how pathetic his life is and the only thing he's good at is destroying everything around him. Meh.
He fucked up and could've been a billionaire so he tries to make up for it this way but even if he ends up being a billionaire he'll have no one.
Good times are gone brah, it's time to sleep with the fishes.

Let's not forget the opening scene of the first episode of this season. It's a year later, the cancer is back, and Walt has a new identity…

…and an M60.

Walt isn't going down without taking someone with him. Big time. :x

I doubt he's going to get killed, he just seems set on not thinking about any alternatives. I mean, his kind of qualifications and he can't find some legit work? Fuck him. Ok now I'm just projecting.

Anyway it'd be cool if he had some "A-ha" moment where he realized he could pretty much do the same thing except in a beneficial way.
I liked the idea of him and Gale coming up with some amazing formula for the best coffee in the world and they came up with with different flavors from that. Something along those lines or some revolutionary environmentally friendly substance that can be used in a variety of applications....but no, he sticks to "I'm making a killing off making the best meth" and puts too much into how hard it took him to get there.
Not big thinking imo.

So, I had the idea of, what if the season just end off with him having a successful stable operation? Spooky, but open ended and anti-climactic.

Some clever way to tie up all the loose ends is ideal, and a gamble, so I hope I like the outcome; can't say I've agreed with some results to V Gilligans "box myself in a corner" approach to writing.

You guys aren't paying attention to that opening scene of episode 1. Lots of vital information there.

1. It's a year later. He's turning 52 and he turned 51 during episode three or four.

2. He has a new identity and has changed his appearance.

3. The cancer is back.

4. He doesn't care about money anymore. He tips the waitress $100. A very subtle but crucial clue there.

5. He just bought a fucking M60 and a trunkful of ammo.

All clues point to one thing:

ENDGAME

Not enough. He needs to gain about 200 pounds, grow his hair about shoulder length, and then board Oceanic flight 815 leaving Australia destined for Los Angeles.

It’s the only ending that will make sense.

True, Stringtapper, thanks for the reminder.

I dunno, sometimes I think if he was able to get away clean and it just ended with us knowing he's probably going to build an empire might be kinda cool...

This season has been good, yes, but the level of tension hasn't reached nearly the level of past peak moments/episodes...though I have hope it will get there. Some of the writing IMO hasn't been quite as clever as past seasons, and accounts for the drop in tension: specifically, the first few episodes built their drama around characters we had never previously seen and had no attachment to whatsoever ('gus's former team') and the more recent episodes, while very entertaining, feel a bit clunky: e.g. this past episode devotes a long, dramatic scene to deciding if that new kid should be kept in the organization after the incident, they vote Yes, and then just a couple scenes later Mike and Jessie quit anyway, so literally none of that "decision" really matters at all..

maybe I'm too picky. still watching the hell out of it.

NOT an Endgame. I agree that opener is important, but God knows what it could mean. They could very well do a flash forward for the last couple of eps in this season, then next season the cancer goes back into remission - or it was never there in the first place - or Skylar paid the doctor to say it was there - or.....

It's tantalizing, but then again so is a great SALSA that lies just out of reach.

Yeah it wouldn't hurt to have some chips...but I did glance at a BB facebook post mentioning Walter as a Scarface, so there could be some guns blazing, actually I expect it at this point, but hopefully that's not the endgame. We need one last really grand super clever masterminding end to this show, something like this can't end with a wimper. It needs to end with a "HOLY FUCK"
