You're going to have to provide a lot more info regarding how many tracks, effects, envelopes, VST's being used, etc before anyone will be able to have a clue as to what's going on.
How long did it take with the old computer, and how long is it taking with the newer one?
And have you tried this with the 64-bit beta now that you have a 64-bit OS?
Life is too awesome, and I have no time in to waste on dipshits, malcontents and people with no sense of humor.

Live doesn't support CPU multi rendering.

big projects take time to render to audio

+1 to DoobieBrother69, provide more infos [number of tracks, audio AND MIDI, FX's, midi devices...]

EDIT: dualcore you said, a little short for live8 imho.
I struggle everyday with amounts of tracks and overall the number of midi instruments with my dualcore [desktop and laptop].

It would be interesting for you to run the Performance Test for ableton live and tell your results.
Mine is around 48% with a dualcore @2.4ghz, 8tracks running

Here's the link to the topic, link for download is on the first post.

Ableton Live Performance Test

That's anywhere from real-time speed to faster than real-time (presuming a 6 minute song?)
When you consider what all is being processed, that's not so bad.
