Sample rate woes

Post by domtak » Mon Aug 27, 2012 10:40 pm

Hello

I've just exported a track from Ableton ready for mastering and cranked up the settings to the max (32bit @ 192,000 & no dithering). But the audio file that is rendered is quite different to how it sounds in Live. Weirdly, when I export the track as 32bit @ 96,000 the sound it more like what I expect to hear (in fact correct).

Looking at the 1st export and the 2nd the rendered audio files look significantly different, the whole 2nd half of the track is 50% quieter than it should be.

Anyone know why I might be having issues rendering out at high res? Is it maybe plug-in's not being able to handle such rates?

A real head scratcher.

Thanks

Dom

Why would you export at 32/192? Just render it at 24 bit and the sample rate you wrote the track at, doubtful adding unneccesary sample rate conversion is ever going to make things sound better. Especially since Live's sample rate conversion is admittedly so so at best.
