Hi
I'm trying to set up Live to record a series of 4 bar audio clips of some jamming i'm doing with some external gear. Is is possible to set up a follow action to record a slot for four bars, then move to the next available slot and begin recording that, ending up with a bunch of clips in one audio track that I could then play via my APC40 into arrangement view? Google seems to say no, but I'm wondering if anyone on here has a workaround of sorts...thanks!
Record Next Empty Slot
Re: Record Next Empty Slot
Closest thing I can think of is, using a foot pedal. It can get messy though...
You go into Preferences, and turn on, Select Next Scene on Launch. Also turn on Record on scene launch, or something like that.
Then you midi assign this magical foot pedal to the Scene Launch button that appears in midi map mode.
Now, every time you tap the pedal, it records on the highlighted scene (starts based on quantization settings), then also moves the highlight down one scene to the next one. So, as you tap the pedal, it inches it's way down, and gives you clips.
A major downside, is making sure this launching does not interfere with your other clips! You can remove stop buttons and stuff, arrange things strategically, but there isn't fully away around all of this, especially if you are going to launch other clips while you record. Since it selects the scene of the last-triggered-clip, thus throwing your pedal off to a different scene.
