Axiom pads controlling impulse and keys controlling synth??

Post by Pettro » Wed Aug 29, 2012 10:45 pm

Hi, I tried to do a search but I found nothing similar.

Is it possible to have a track with an ableton synth and other track with an impulse, arm both tracks but have the Axiom PADS control the impulse ONLY , and have the keys and knobs control the ONLY ableton synth notes and parameters without triggering the impulse also??

Does this require heavy MIDI programming? I guess the axiom pads are sending same midi signal than the keys?

I know Axiom program 18 controlls impulse pads, but also the keys (C1 to C7 I think) on that same program triggers the impulse.

I would like to have everything separate without having to switch or disarm tracks for my live act...this is if I play axiom keys synth will sound, if I play axiom pads drum sounds will play, if I move axiom knobs synth sound will change.

Am I too confusing?

Pads might be on midi channel 10. Try setting the input of impulse as chn 10. And synth as 1. If that does not work, then you'd have to change the channel of your pads : )

For the input/output on the channels of your instruments, there is a drop down menu for midi input.

On that you can select what midi channel it is listening for. If you're lucky, you can even click on it and it might show meters of which midi channels are receiving signal when you hit things on your keyboard.

Either the pads and keys will all be from the same channel, or they might be on unique channels.

If they are both on the same, then you would have to edit your keyboard.
