Anybody Using G

Post by ::mic-minimal:: » Tue Jul 12, 2005 10:24 pm

i'm researching samplers/interesting apps to use with Live 5, basicly i'm interested in these:

kontakt
G
and project 5

this is the link for G, has anybody had experience with it, I do alot of turntablist based production and thought that the pinky stuff/ capabilities looks interesting but I heard of stability issues in the past, was wondering if it runs smoothely now. I know it can't run as a vst with-in Live like the others
but for me that's not really an issue as I preffer to run separate but side by side anyway any insights you cats might have is much appreciated.

Project5 has a lot more to offer than its samplers. Groove quantize for example. Live and Project5 would make a killer combo IMO

oh definitely Louz, been goin over p5 with a magnifying glass quite a bit, i'm very curious about G though, on paper you'd think that those capabilities
for $110 would mean that a copy was in every household, the feature list looks too good, i'm wonderiing if that shit really works. :lol:

if it all works, it looks nifty indeed :)
not too much info on the sampler though.

been trying the P5 demo myself too. had a little play with Dimension at a friend's place as well and was pretty impressed. lookin forward to play some more. maybe even buy...

you probably used the ms pinky earlier incarnation but 'G' is the rewrite new version of the prior app, it's only been out for a little over a year I believe.

"G" looks very crowded to me. Imagine this on a laptop as VSTi...no thank you.

In terms of Project5 I'd always prefer FruityLoops - it's damn stable and has a lot of gimmicks that I miss in Live (e.g. FormulaController, Chop-tool, Groove templates & much more). Isn't really a 'sampler' though.

All the people using G round here end up drooling and rolling around on the floor.

yeah o , fruity is the shit, very nice swiss army knife but you might want to check into p5 a lil bit more, it's got all of those things you described and I think it does a better job than fruity at fruitys own game, p5 probably the only one with a better step seq than fruity, course guru might change all of that.
