Mac or PC for new laptop? Help!
I recently dropped my mac while programming a song. It's about 10 years old and it's been running extremely slow ever since i dropped it, i can't even run ableton on it now so i need to buy a new laptop so mac or pc? I'm no computer buff so any help is appreciated. I just need it to run my music software fast and to do homework. So which should i choose and why? I've been told upgraded pcs are just as good as macs, is this true? Any answers or links to helpful websites are greatly appreciated!

equally priced PC laptops are as good as macbook pros no doubt.
Though if you already know OSX why bother learning how to troubleshoot audio on a Windows machine? Unless you're wanting to run Fruity Loops or need to take your chances with a sub $1,000 laptop because of price concerns I don't see the point of switching. The latest 11" macbook air is roughly twice as fast as my top of the line 2007 17" macbook pro, and the basic 15" macbook pro is roughly three times faster to get an idea of what is out there. A PC guy can toss some Windows options at you etc. but really? why does this question come up on public forums?
For instance I was pondering whether to build a PC desktop or get a Mac Pro recently and I decided to watch craigslist for a bit first and a Mac Pro came up for about what I could build a comparable PC. I have about ten pieces of software I like that are Mac only so that sealed the deal.

I actually have both and they are different.
If you look around at professional DJ's they are all using Macs. There is a reason for this. All of the high end software runs better on a Mac. If you are using Logic to record with or DJ mixing programs like Itch, it is better on a Mac. So for DJ, audio production, it is much better on a Mac.
Then I have a PC that I use for web surfing, games, word processing, and my business. Mac is terrible for gaming. Accounting programs like Quick Books won't run well on a Mac. Business sharing files, etc. nobody has Mac. And PC is much cheaper! My Samsung Gamer will kill the Mac in all but music!
