Audio drop outs and glitches after about 30min.
Hey guys, first post. First just let me say that live is hands down the most bad ass program I have ever used for production as well as live performance and Im salivating for mp3 support and auto-warping coming in live 5.
Anyway, I have noticed that after about 30min. of working on a track with absolutely no problems, I start to get audio drop outs and live just starts to glitch up on me. If I close it and start it up again its fine for another half hour or so and then the same thing happens again. Anything I can do???
Running V4.0.1 on 1.8ghz centrino thinkpad, 1gig ram, 60gig 7200 hardrive, win xp pro sp1. Thanks in advance!!!

I've had that with other audio apps - seemed to be the ASIO driver of my soundcard that wasn't optimal... Has been fixed now, though.Jonsama wrote:Hey guys, first post. So - I don't think this is a Live problem. BTW - why don't you update to 4.1.4?

Dont know if you guys are still following this post- but even with the driver and ableton updates, it still glitches up on me after about30-40min of playing around. The cpu doesnt even get really high, the audio just starts dropping out. Its not a huge issue for me b/c i mainly use live for production, but untill it gets a bit more stable theres no way I could play out even if i wanted to...

But are you sure it's faulting on Ableton's side? It sounds as if it's due to your internal audio. That's not really optimal for DAW use. Although people have been getting good results with third party generic driver Asio4all (www.asio4all.com). Check that if you haven't allready!

I've been trying to find the thread but I can't find it... if you do some searching there was a good thread on here about optimising your system to avoid unnecessary cpu drain form system resources... maybe some arcane and pointless system feature that you never use gets activated every 30 minutes and causes a logjam... basic good advice was to turn off various Windows components that you hardly need. It may help
good luck

Thanks for the advise guys. Lo-fi- i installed that asio driver and will let you know if that helps. I also just realised that i have been running things like soulseek and yahoo messenger in the backround while running live- I'll try running it solo with the new drivers and i'll let you know. cheers:)
